In 1948 Carl Kiekhaefer of Mercury Outboards understood all too well the mechanics of promoting his products by winning races. Twenty years earlier The Gray & Prior Machine Company of Hartford Conn., builders of the Hartford Sturdy Twin, employed this very technique without the benefit of mass-media. Dealers may have provided the following leaflet to potential customers as a testimonial  to the performance of this fine machine in far away lands.
